The Van-Gogh dream

Ever since I began painting, my dream has been to exhibit my work overseas. I live on the island of Mauritius, where my art is born from a blend of personal emotion and a touch of tropical bliss. Venturing abroad is an idea that was probably inspired by my grandmother, who was an author whose books were published in France. This idea stuck somewhere in my subconscious.
At first, my wildest dream of all was to one day exhibit my paintings at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. No less!

My artistic style is profoundly inspired by Vincent van Gogh. I was touched by his expressive brushwork, his emotional honesty, and the way he translated emotions into beauty. His art speaks a language I deeply understand, and it has shaped the way I see the world and express it on canvas.
But let’s go back to reality.
Along the journey, I’ve also encountered the trap of vanity galleries — spaces that promise exposure in exchange for large sums of money, often without true belief in the artist or their work. These galleries exploit the vulnerability of those who dare to dream. I did an exhibition with one of these galleries in Lausanne years ago and was really disappointed by my own naivety.
When I have ideas of grandeur, I take a quick look at Pinterest and admire the thousands of incredible artists whose works are outstanding, and it gives me perspective on my own art. I, too, am only one in a million artists who dream of showing their work to a large crowd.
And being loved.
